The concert features Jean-Féry Rebel’s (1666–1747) Les élémens (The Elements), where in the opening part Le Cahos (Chaos) Rebel imaginatively describes the shaking natural forces that influenced the birth of the world. He begins the section with the first cluster in the history of music – a bundle of notes that are close in pitch and played at the same time. Handel’s festive Water Music and Bach’s beloved Violin Concerto in A minor round out the evening.
Duration 1h 45
The concert is part of the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra’s Early Music Series. Season tickets are available from Ticketmaster until 21 January, 2024.
